Who ever seen this Perth Polish wedding could not help but notice the white and red decoration theme. Everything from ties, bridesmaids’ dresses or flowers to the wedding cake was in white and red. This was not a coincident but deliberate and beautiful reminder of where the bride family come from. As many of you knows white and red are Polish national flag colours.
Peter and Sylvia decided to have a traditional Perth Polish wedding on Australian soil. Starting from the white and red theme, a ceremony in the Polish church and finishing with a traditional reception gritting and wedding games. First of all the ceremony in the Polish church was actually very unusual, as two priests from two different churches attended to wedding ceremony. To be honest, I have never seen anything like it. Ok, maybe it was not so traditional ceremony after all.
After the ceremony, we end up in the Harold Boas Gardens to find some privacy and to take beautiful pictures of the just married couple and the bridal party. Strait from there we went to the reception where the bride and groom were welcome with bread, salt and two glasses of vodka. That is where the fun starts. Only one of the two glasses had vodka in it. Whoever gets the vodka glass is going to have upper hand in the relationship. At least that is what the tradition says. Of course, the bride got the strong drink. The rest of the night was full of dancing and hilarious wedding games. So much so that I barely could keep up photographing, as I was laughing hysterically.
