Takayuki and Akie – Japanese wedding in Fremantle.
Takayuki and Akie come all the way from Japan to have their wedding in Fremantle. They had only five days available for sightseeing Perth and to get married. We had 3 hours to photograph the ceremony and some creative images at a beach. The ceremony was at St John's Anglican Church in Fremantle and the rest of the time we spent at the South Beach.
The ceremony at the church almost felt like a rehearsal because only eight people were present and that is including me, the priest and organist. Despite the numbers, It was very private but lovely wedding with an interesting twist. We did not speak each other's languages. Takayuki and Akie spoken English is basic. My Japanese is not even close to a basic as it is only limited to 4 words. Instead, we were using a good old body language and not so old Google Translate; sometimes with funny results. Despite the language barrier, we had a good time, and the Japanese wedding in Fremantle was a success.
